Acceptance of These Terms

These Terms of Service govern your use of CLI Finder. By accessing the website, using its public JSON API or CLI, generating an artifact, or submitting content, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

CLI Finder is currently a public, free reference service. Browsing its 38-tool registry, searching entries, using the public API and CLI, and generating Skill, policy, or manifest drafts do not require an account or payment. If the service later introduces materially different features, additional terms may be presented for those features.

What CLI Finder Provides

CLI Finder organizes information about third-party command-line tools for people and AI-agent workflows. The initial service includes:

• A searchable registry of 38 command-line tools and related categories.
• Tool pages with commands, evidence references, readiness notes, and risk guidance.
• Public JSON endpoints and a companion CLI for searching and inspecting entries.
• Generated drafts such as Skill files, agent policies, manifests, shell allowlists, Dockerfiles, and workflow snippets.
• Forms for proposing a tool or update and reporting broken, outdated, incorrect, or unsafe information.

CLI Finder may add, remove, revise, suspend, or discontinue features. Availability, schemas, output formats, and registry coverage may change as the service develops.

Information and Evidence Boundaries

CLI Finder is a research and planning aid, not an authoritative source for every tool, version, command, platform, or deployment environment. Registry content may be derived from official documentation, repositories, package metadata, or testing notes. Labels such as documentation-verified and runtime-tested describe the available evidence; they do not guarantee that a command remains current or works in your environment.

Tool versions, flags, authentication methods, defaults, network behavior, and upstream documentation can change without notice. A missing warning is not proof that a command is safe, and inclusion in the registry is not an endorsement, certification, security audit, or warranty from CLI Finder or the tool maintainer. Check the linked official sources and the installed version before acting on registry content.

Generated Artifacts Are Drafts

Artifacts generated by CLI Finder are starting-point drafts for review. They may contain commands, permissions, paths, environment variables, package names, version assumptions, or policy rules that do not fit your operating system, runtime, repository, account, or security model.

Before using a generated Skill, policy, manifest, allowlist, Dockerfile, CI workflow, or other artifact, you are responsible for:

• Reading the complete output and linked evidence.
• Confirming tool versions, installation sources, and command syntax.
• Removing unnecessary permissions and restricting credentials, paths, hosts, and write access.
• Testing in an isolated or otherwise appropriate environment.
• Applying your own organizational, legal, licensing, and security requirements.

Do not treat generated output as an instruction to execute automatically. CLI Finder is not responsible for changes made by a third-party tool or by an agent acting on an unreviewed artifact.

R0–R3 Risk Labels

CLI Finder may use R0–R3 labels to summarize the likely effect of a command, from read-only or informational activity through increasingly consequential changes. These labels are editorial shortcuts, not complete threat models. Actual risk depends on command arguments, credentials, permissions, current directory, connected services, data sensitivity, and upstream behavior.

An R0 or R1 label does not guarantee harmless execution, and an R2 or R3 label does not capture every approval, rollback, or safety control you may need. The labels do not replace your review, testing, access controls, backups, or independent judgment.

Third-Party Tools, Sites, and Services

CLI Finder does not own or control the command-line tools, repositories, package registries, documentation sites, APIs, or hosted services referenced in registry entries. Their maintainers set their own licenses, terms, pricing, authentication rules, security practices, and data-handling policies.

You are responsible for obtaining any required rights, reviewing upstream terms, and understanding what data a command may read, change, upload, or disclose. CLI Finder is not a party to your relationship with a third-party provider and is not responsible for upstream availability, security incidents, breaking changes, fees, data loss, or other acts or omissions of third parties.

Public API and CLI Use

You may use the public JSON API and CLI for reasonable personal, research, development, and integration purposes. You agree not to:

• Overload, disrupt, or impair the service or other users' access.
• Evade rate limits, access controls, or other technical safeguards.
• Probe for vulnerabilities without authorization or attempt unauthorized access.
• Misrepresent registry data as an official certification or as your own verified testing.
• Use the service in violation of applicable law or third-party rights.

API schemas, CLI behavior, endpoints, and availability may change. You should validate responses, handle errors, and avoid treating the public service as the sole dependency for a critical production system unless you have made your own continuity arrangements.

Submissions and Reports

You may propose tools, updates, manifests, or corrections and report broken or unsafe information. You represent that you have the right to submit the content and that, to the best of your knowledge, it is accurate, lawful, and does not contain secrets, personal data you lack permission to share, malware, or infringing material.

You retain any rights you hold in your submission. You grant CLI Finder a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, review, verify, edit, adapt, publish, and distribute the submitted content as reasonably needed to operate, improve, and promote the registry. This license includes the right to combine factual portions of a submission with other registry material. It does not require CLI Finder to accept, publish, or retain a submission.

CLI Finder may reject, remove, correct, de-identify, or decline to act on submissions or reports. Do not include passwords, access tokens, private keys, private repository content, confidential business information, or unnecessary personal information.

Acceptable Use

You must not use CLI Finder to:

• Break applicable laws or facilitate unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, or harmful activity.
• Infringe intellectual property, privacy, confidentiality, or other rights.
• Distribute malware, spam, deceptive content, or malicious command payloads.
• Interfere with the integrity, security, or operation of CLI Finder.
• Falsely impersonate a person, project, or tool maintainer.

Access may be limited or blocked when reasonably necessary to protect the service, its users, or third parties, including in response to abuse or excessive automated traffic.

Intellectual Property

CLI Finder's original site design, software, editorial organization, and original text are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Third-party names, logos, commands, documentation, repositories, and other materials remain the property of their respective owners and may be subject to their licenses or terms. A registry reference does not imply affiliation or endorsement.

No Warranty

To the extent permitted by law, CLI Finder is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, currency, availability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or security. We do not warrant that registry information, generated artifacts, API responses, or third-party tools will be error-free, safe, continuously available, or suitable for your environment.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, CLI Finder and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or business interruption, arising from or related to the service, generated artifacts, registry information, public API or CLI, or third-party tools.

Where liability cannot be excluded, it will be limited to the extent permitted by law. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that applicable law does not allow to be excluded or limited.

Changes to the Service or Terms

These terms may be revised as CLI Finder changes or legal requirements evolve. The updated date on this page will change when revised terms are published. Material changes may also be highlighted through the service when appropriate. Your continued use after the effective date of revised terms means you accept the revised terms.
